Finding Healing After Abuse: How Yahweh Can Restore a Woman’s Heart

If you’ve been through abuse whether emotional, physical, sexual, or spiritual please hear this first: you are not alone, and your healing matters deeply to God.
Yahweh, the Christian God, doesn’t turn away from your pain. In fact, Scripture shows that He draws close to the brokenhearted and offers refuge, healing, and hope.

For women walking through the long, sacred journey of recovery, faith in Yahweh can become a life-giving source of strength. Here’s how.

💗 1. Yahweh Sees You—And Believes You

Sometimes, the hardest part of healing is feeling unseen. But in Genesis 16, a woman named Hagar called God El Roi “the God who sees me.” Yahweh saw her when no one else did.

Your story matters. What happened to you was not okay. And Yahweh, the God of justice and compassion, sees it all. He’s not distant He’s deeply present, even in your silence and tears.

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” – Psalm 34:18

🌸 2. He Offers a Safe Place to Heal

In an abusive relationship, safety often gets stripped away. But Yahweh is called a refuge, a safe place where you can exhale, cry, scream, rest, and rebuild.

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” – Psalm 46:1

Whether through prayer, journaling, or simply being still in His presence, you’re invited to rest in divine protection that isn’t based on your performance, just your presence.

✨ 3. His Word Rewrites the Lies

Abuse can plant lies in your heart, “I’m not worthy,” “I’m too broken,” “It was my fault.” But Scripture tells a different story. Yahweh’s voice is gentle, powerful, and truth-filled.

“You are fearfully and wonderfully made.” – Psalm 139:14
“I have loved you with an everlasting love.” – Jeremiah 31:3

Immersing yourself in His Word can begin to wash away the shame and replace it with dignity, purpose, and peace.

👑 4. Your Identity Is Found in Him—Not Your Pain

You are not defined by what happened to you. Abuse may have marked your story, but it does not define your future.

Through faith in Yahweh and relationship with Jesus, you are not just surviving, you’re becoming whole again. You are a daughter of the King, and your worth is non-negotiable.

17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come:[a] The old has gone, the new is here! – 2 Corinthians 5:17 – NIV

🌿 5. Healing Is a Journey—And Yahweh Walks With You

There’s no “quick fix” for trauma. But Yahweh promises this: You won’t walk it alone.

“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you.” – Isaiah 43:2

Whether you’re in therapy, journaling through your grief, or just learning to breathe again, He’s there. He holds space for your pace. Your healing is sacred to Him.

🌼 I hope you know…

Sweet sister, if you’re healing from abuse, let this be your reminder:

  • You are seen
  • You are deeply loved
  • Your pain is not too messy for God
  • And you are not alone in this

God’s healing isn’t just for “perfect” people it’s for the broken, the weary, the brave, and the real. That means it’s for you.

I’m Brittney

I am a 36-year-old survivor, artist, writer, and advocate who has walked through some of life’s darkest valleys and emerged with a radiant, unshakeable faith. Having endured childhood sexual trauma, decades of domestic violence, temporary paralysis, a coma, memory loss, and the heartbreaking loss of custody of my children as the result. I have had to rebuild my life piece by piece, hand in hand with the Lord. I have had to trust Him to protect, heal and reunite my family. I have had to trust Him to put me back together and turn my trauma into a testimony that honors Him and helps women who are where I have been. Now a two-time cancer and heart failure survivor, I use my story to illuminate hope for others, reminding women that God is still a God of miracles, restoration, and new beginnings. Through my blog, I combine faith, creativity, and lived experience to uplift survivors of abuse, helping them rediscover gratitude, reclaim their identity, and step boldly into the healing God has promised.
