Are you looking for self serve online resources to assist you on your self care journey? I have compiled a short list of Apps I have downloaded, tested, and used to make sure they were worthy of recommending. I do not receive any kind of benefit for sharing these other than the joy of knowing it might help someone who reads this blog post.
One Medical : https://www.onemedical.com/ – this is a subscription based service. $9 a month. This is through amazon, and it is is a service that connects you with medical doctors and mental health professionals. There are support workers who can help navigate, make referrals, and set up appointments for you. You can upload your insurance and the copay will be billed to you after the appointment. You can book online or in person. This app was easy to set up, use and I had an appointment set up for only 10 minutes after requesting one.
Happify : https://www.happify.com/ – this app has a free tier and a pay tier. I only tested the free tier. It helps you set small goals, provides self serve tasks that promote positive mindsets, and offers short assessments to provide a customized program. This app has an option to send a daily reminder to participate.
iPrevail: https://www.iprevail.com/ – this is a peer support app that offers coaching and mental health support. Health insurance companies have aligned with this app and offer it to their clients or you can check it out at the above link.
Personify Health: https://personifyhealth.com/ – this is a an app that connects to your devices and accounts and helps create a personalized wellbeing plan based on your personal needs. This integrates very well with my chart and apple products.
Finch: https://finchcare.com/ – this app is so cute. You get a pet finch who you take care of by checking in daily and completing self care tasks for yourself in real life. This one was a game changer for me, I didn’t realize how many of my needs were taking a back burner to caring for everyone else. I use the free version but there is also a paid version for even more content.
Quabble: https://quabble.app/ – This app is $8.99 a month, and to me it is worth it. I have this app and keep a widget of it on my home screen. It gives you a little pet duck you can interact with, and it has tasks and activities that inspire you to live a mentally healthier lifestyle depending on your individual self care goals.
WalkFit: https://walkfit.pro/ – this app is a paid tier program. I did the free intro and ended up subscribing, it has a “daily streak” to help encourage you to keep up with your walking plan. For those who struggle holding themselves accountable for the physical part of mental health this is a great way to get started.
Crunch Fitness: https://www.crunch.com/ – out of all of the gym memberships I have tried this is the only one I find myself recommending to clients. They have classes, their company is inclusive, their staff is upbeat, and they have an app that provides work out plans, training videos and more. You can use the app even when you are not at the gym.
These apps are not a replacement for therapy or medical support, but they are amazing additional tools on your journey to integrate self care and healthy habits into your daily life. As someone with combatting disorders : OCD, and ADHD, I know all too well the fight to remain self disciplined and show up for your own self care. I recommend these apps as someone who has downloaded, tested, and kept each one. When I started testing them for my clients I didn’t expect to find so many amazing resources that even I would end up using. I hope that you try at least the free versions and see if there is anything for you to learn or take with you on your healing journey.
Stay Safe,
Brittney @livemindfulee
